Race Summary:

After a week of controversy, the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series finally kicked off the 2007 season with the 49^th edition of the Great American Race. Former series champions Kurt Busch and Tony Stewart dominated early, only to wreck each other while running 1-2. The result was a bunched up field and one of the wildest final laps in NASCAR history. With cars spinning and wrecking off the final turn on the final lap, Kevin Havick came out of nowhere to drag race sentimental favorite Mark Martin to the finish line. The result was a finish that fans will talk about for generations, and added Harvick to the list of Daytona legends.
