2007 Dover 400

09.23.2007
Dover International Speedway

Winner:

Carl Edwards

Pole:

Jimmie Johnson

Race Summary:

Since it first opened its doors in 1969, the Dover International Speedway has earned a reputation for eating cars and humbling stars. That’s why they call it the Monster Mile. In the second round of the Chase for the Nextel Cup, the Monster came out the play, causing a record 13 cautions, most of them multicar crashes involving NASCAR’s biggest names. Clint Bowyer, Denny Hamlin, Martin Truex Jr., Kurt Busch, and Jimmie Johnson were all bitten by wrecks, while Matt Kenseth and Kevin Harvick were doomed by engine and tire problems. When the white concrete dust finally cleared, it was Carl Edwards who was the last man standing and leaping to third in the point standings behind Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart.
