2007 Kobalt Tools 500
03.18.2007
Atlanta Motor Speedway
Race Summary:
In the fall of 2006, Tony Stewart beat Jimmie Johnson to the Atlanta finish line in a thrilling 1-2 battle of the home improvement sponsors. Five months later, Johnson was eager to exact a little revenge. A wild race saw 13 drivers swap the lead 31 times, including Jeff Gordon, Kurt Busch, Jeff Burton, and Matt Kenseth. But in the end, it was another hardware showdown. With three laps to go, Johnson whipped his #48 Chevy around the #20 of Stewart, a move that many, including Stewart, deemed too close for comfort. Controversy aside, Johnson streaked across the finish
