Race Summary:

In what was no less than the most exciting Nextel Cup road race in recent memory, NASCAR's biggest stars put on a show that featured spins, an unlikely win, and hot tempers that spilled out onto the track. Starting on the pole thanks to a washed out qualifying session, Jeff Gordon was busy all afternoon holding off a field of NASCAR stars and road course specialists. After an early spin, Tony Stewart was forced to work his way back to the front. In the meantime, Kevin Harvick and Juan Pablo Montoya wrecked while running near the front and had words on live national TV. On the closing lap alone, Jeff Gordon inexplicably spun, handing Stewart the win, but not before Carl Edwards went for the win by going off-road through the dirt.
