Texas Motor Speedway
Race Summary:
When the green flag dropped at the superfast Texas Motor Speedway, it looked as though Jeff Gordon would finally end his career-long winless streak in the Lone Star State, starting on the pole and leading a race-high 172 laps. But as the day wore on, a wad of stars found their way to the point, including Greg Biffle, Mark Martin, Martin Truex Jr., and rookie sensation Juan Pablo Montoya. But the final 20 laps belonged to Matt Kenseth and his former Roush Racing teammate Jeff Burton. With each passing lap, Burton's Chevy inched closer to Kenseth's Ford. Finally, in the second turn of the race's final lap, Burton blasted into the lead and into Victory Lane. The classy veteran led only one lap all day, it just happened to be the only lap that matters.
