2007 Subway Fresh Fit 500
04.21.2007
Phoenix International Raceway
Race Summary:
Somehow, someway, Jeff Gordon had never won a Cup race at the Phoenix International Raceway, not even after 75 career wins. As the night unfolded in the desert, it looked as though the four-time champ's record at PIR would go to 0-and-17, thanks to the dominance of Joe Gibbs Racing. Denny Hamlin led 70 laps, topped only by Tony Stewart's 132. Stewart and Gordon battled over the race's final laps, until Gordon took the win. The victory tied him with Dale Earnhardt for 6th all-time and the ensuing celebration was one for the ages.
