Race Summary:
The spring of 2007 had been hard on the employees of Dale Earnhardt Incorporated as driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. announced he would be leaving the team at season's end to drive for Hendrick Motorsports. Many saw it as a blow from which DEI would never recover. But Martin Truex Jr., the driver hand-picked by Earnhardt to be his teammate, answered the bell. The New Jersey native led a race-high 216 of 400 laps and cruised to victory over pole sitter Ryan Newman, Carl Edwards, Denny Hamlin, and the Roush Racing duo of Matt Kenseth and Greg Biffle.
